Is Lysebotn Norway's Most Beautiful Village?

An absolute pleasure to visit this tiny village in a rural area of Norway where impressive waterfalls, gigantic mountains and crystal clear fjord meet and live in peace and harmony.

Lysebotn is located in a very isolated valley in southern Norway that is only accessible by a single road or by boat, however the road is open on summer only due to the harsh weather conditions. We drive on that 29-kilometer long road which descends over 900 meters down a very steep cliff, going through 27 hairpin turns, including one hairpin turn inside over a kilometer long tunnel that goes inside the mountain.

After travelling though this lengthy tunnel with an extremely narrow path, we start our walk toward the village where the houses are painted in all rainbow colours.

Finally, we arrive at the pier where we have a spectacular view over Lysefjord and the surrounding mountains. Last but not least, we show you a stunning waterfall just at the corner which can be a perfect picnic spot.

Whether this is the most beautiful village of Norway or not, you can decide by watching our video.
