Walking in the Heart of Sydney on a Rainy Day
While most people get discouraged with rain on a winter day weekend, we grabbed this opportunity to explore the city from a different view. This was also a great opportunity to do some street photography in the rain. Nothing beats the moody atmosphere in the city with lots of reflections from water when raining.
We started our walk at the Museum Station. The wind was fighting against the umbrella but the umbrella was strong enough to survive the road crossing. We approached George Street and started walking along the light rail tracks. Close to Townhall, there was a nice view of the light rail against the backdrop of the Queen Victoria building.
We kept walking towards Westfield and the QVB light rail station was still busy despite the heavy wind and rain.
Even though most motorists were considerate while driving over the water puddles near pedestrians, there were some people who didn’t forget to give a small splash of water. We continued walking along the light rail tracks. The light rail tracks and reflections of the nearby structures on water puddles looked amazing in the photos.
We turned to Market Street and then to Pitt Street Mall. No usual street performances on that day assuming due to rain. Many people with broken umbrellas were walking on the street so it is wise the street performers didn’t try their luck battling the storm.
We continued until Martin Place to finish our walk. The artificial waterfall there looked natural in the rainy weather.
